Kirkland House is a large, family-friendly holiday house on the west coast of Scotland, just south of Tarbert, Loch Fyne. From the house, a beach can be easily accessed by a short walk whilst enjoying views of the Inner Hebrides (Gigha, Islay and Jura). The end of this peninsula, Mull of Kintyre, from which Ireland can be seen, is within easy reach by car.
Machrihanish beach, located on the westerly side, is a popular choice for wind surfers, and the adjacent golf course attracts professional players from all over the world because of its challenging elements and beautiful scenery.
This comfortable house had been carefully designed, providing a relaxing home for families spanning all ages. Recently redecorated throughout, the house is spacious inside, with an upgraded kitchen, comfortable lounge and snug areas for relaxation.
An old walled garden provides privacy and shelter from cool breezes; ideal for snoozing away an afternoon, family outdoor dining or expending energy playing family games.
Locally there is a selection of great eating places, many offering a range of local produce, including seafood.
The house is situated in the small hamlet of Clachan and enjoys lovely views of the surrounding hills and has easy access to the beach and the delightful coastal walks. From this base, it is easy to explore using the ferries to island-hop, or make short excursions discovering this beautifully scenic part of Scotland.
More island than mainland, the wonderfully unexplored Kintyre peninsula boasts hidden coves, deserted beaches along the wild Atlantic coast, tiny fishing communities, gentle hills, fabulous local produce and a welcoming, friendly people.
Perhaps you've experienced some of it - a walk along Westport beach as the Atlantic surf crashes onto the shore; scallops, maybe, eaten at the water's edge; the sun setting over Jura; otter spotting; a blustery picnic at the ruined thirteenth-century chapel that marks the arrival point of St Columba prior to his trip to Iona. Whatever your Scottish holiday means to you - Kintyre will not disappoint!
