Fabulous self-catering castle in southern Scotland

In large mature gardens and woodlands on the south-west coast of Scotland stands the magical castle of Knockbrex.

Knockbrex Castle is a great gathering place for weddings, celebrations, family and friends. It is easily accessible from both north and south, with Glasgow, Prestwick and Edinburgh airports within easy reach, as is the ferry to Ireland.

Within the grounds is additional cottage accommodation - Bothy Cottage - which can be taken in addition to the castle, bringing the total accommodation to 22.

The castle is the perfect venue to hold a romantic wedding, with the Great Hall as a striking focus for the ceremony, and the beautiful grounds providing a superb backdrop for the photographs.

Only a short distance from the beaches of Carrick Bay and warmed by the Gulf Stream, the area is ideal for a variety of activities: nearby are five golf courses, forest and lochside walking, cycle routes, touring, watersports, fishing, and many places of historical interest that are open to the public.

Open to the public from early March until 1st November, it is a visitor attraction based on an organic farm that has diversified into ice-cream manufacture and nature-based tourism. There is an extensive outdoor woodland adventure playground, a superb indoor play area and several miles of nature trails. One of the special events offered to groups is a 'make your own ice-cream' activity.
