Greenhill, a magnificent lodge nestling at the foot of the heather-clad Cheviot Hills, offers peaceful and tranquil holiday accommodation in typical borders country, just 1½ hours from both Edinburgh and Newcastle airports. The property was built in the Georgian period as a shooting lodge, then extended later during the Victorian era. Gloriously set in 7000 acres, within easy reach of the historic towns of Kelso and Jedburgh, this is an area offering excellent restaurants and good quality shopping.
The house has been refurbished to the highest standards by the interior designer owner and offers luxurious, yet relaxing, self-catering accommodation for up to 20. The house is elegantly appointed and furnished, and offers all the comforts of the 21st century. Lovely fabrics, antiques, and quality, contemporary furnishings conspire to create a warmth and comfort that few could not find appealing.
For the golfer, there are 21 courses in the Borders, with the Roxburghe Championship Course only a 20-minute drive. The owner can arrange excellent pheasant, partridge and grouse shooting, and there is first-class salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing on the nearby River Tweed.
Kelso, famous for its racecourse and home to Floors Castle, one of Scotland’s architectural gems and the largest inhabited Scottish house, is only 11 miles distant. Walking and cycling through the peaceful Borders countryside and hill paths can be enjoyed straight from the door - leave the car behind and truly get away from it all!
The dramatic Berwickshire coast, where you can visit Bamburgh Castle, a coastal fortress, or take a trip to Lindisfarne on Holy Island, is one hour from Greenhill.
There is an adjacent one-bedroom Bothy Cottage available for a cook, if required. There is an extra charge for this facility. Comprises:
