Bragleen House is an exceptional self-catering country home on a 4000-acre family-owned Highland estate, 10 miles south of the busy fishing port of Oban, one of Scotland's most popular west coast holiday resorts.
This lovely holiday home is situated on elevated ground at the head of an idyllic glen and enjoys magnificent views overlooking Loch Scammadale and the surrounding mountains: facing west, the location is truly breathtaking.
Approaching the house by a well-maintained single-track, public road, through the romantic String of Lorne with its steep-sided mountains and along the shores of Loch Scammadale is absolutely magical. This glen is quiet and peaceful and offers the chance to relax in a haven of tranquillity.
The immediate surroundings are ideal for hill-walking, with many excellent walks into the mountains from the doorstep. The whole area is steeped in history, and offers a secluded holiday with the utmost peace and tranquillity enhanced by the great diversity of interesting wildlife, together with spectacular loch and mountain views.
Fishing is available on Loch Scammadale by arrangement, and on the River Euchar within the estate boundary.
The interior accommodation has been finished with the emphasis on quality, and focusing on warmth, comfort and convenience. There is a delightful, fully-furnished sunroom with double doors leading to a large patio (frequently visited by pine martens).
Polished wood flooring at ground level and large window areas create a lightness and expansiveness that reflects the location. A very well-equipped kitchen makes for easy catering, and the dining table commands superb views west and down the glen and loch.
Double-glazing, central heating and a wood burning stove make Bragleen House a warm, welcoming home suitable for year-round holidays.
The Argyll coast is one of endless bays, beaches and inlets, and makes for the classic west coast beach and rock pool holiday. Sailings to the islands are possible from Oban and a day trip to Iona should not be missed.
